Josie wins Captains Prize

Lady Captain Anne Foskin held her Lady Captains Day last Sunday week. The competition was a single stroke which was followed by a meal and presentation of prizes in the clubhouse. The competition was played in very wet conditions. Josie O Gorman (32) emerged as winner with a net 75. Results: - 1. Josie O Gorman, 2. Carmel Fennelly, 3. Kathleen Lanigan,. Best Gross Aisling Costello. F9 Noreen Bookle. B9 Ciara Fennelly. At the presentation of prizes lady captain Anne Foskin thanked all who took part and congratulated the prize winners. She also complimented the office staff and greenkeeper Edward Power on the magnificent condition of the course.

Medal & GOY

The June Medal was played last weekend with some great scores returned. Noel Doran set the pace with a net 63 off 20. Medal Winners Eddie Walsh (Cat 1), Jim Grace (Cat 2) and Noel Doran (Cat 3). After four rounds is this year’s GOY competition there are four players on 12 Pts., four on 9 Pts. five on 6 Pts., three on 4 Pts. and three on 2 Pts. This weekend the club are running a Singles Stableford where each player is only allowed four clubs in the bag including the putter. The competition can be played on Saturday or Sunday.

Dan O Neill Seniors Cup

This year’s Dan O Neill Seniors Cup will be held on Sunday June 30^th with first tee off at 9.30. All members over the age of 55 are eligible to take part. The competition will be a single Stableford and members can register at the clubhouse.

3Ts Charity Fundraising Event

Fifty members took part in the mens 3T’s charity competition last weekend. The competition was a single stableford. The winner was Gary Owens playing off 18 with a fabulous score of 41 Pts. He was closely followed by Richard Dowling(7) on 40 Pts and John Sheil(18) with 39 Pts. Gary will now be part of the Mountain View team to represent the club in the 3T’s provincial finals in September. The ladies will play their qualifier later this month.

Lady Captains Day

Lady captain Anne Foskin will hold her Captains Prize day on Sunday June 16^th. The first tee time is at 12.30

Classics

Kilmacow FC are holding a 4 person classic in Mountain View on Saturday June 22^nd. The competition format will be a scramble and the entry fee is €80 per team. Max handicaps Mens 18 and Ladies 28. On Saturday June 29^th there will be a classic in aid of the Waterford Childrens Group Link. It will be a 4 person team event with two scores to count on every hole. Handicap limits: Mens 22 and Ladies 28. Entry fee is €100 per team. Contact the clubhouse on 0567768122 for more details.

3Ts Charity Fundraising Event

The proceeds from this weekends members competition is in aid of the 3T’s and can be played on Saturday ,Sunday or Monday. 3Ts is a charity organisation working to help prevent deaths by Suicide. The competition will be a single stableford. The mens winner and the ladies winner will be joined by the captain( mens captain is the 2013 choice) and another player who has played in this weekends competition to represent the club in the provincial finals is September. Entry fee will be €10 per person.

3Ts Charity Fundraising Event

Spring League

The final round of the Spring League was played last weekend. In perfect conditions for golf some fantastic scores were recorded with Seamus O Brien (18) leading the way with a net 62 followed closely by Paul Muldoon (20) on 63. In category 1 Shane Timmons is the winner on 54 Pts. followed by Bart Begley Jnr in second place on 39 Pts. Larry O Neill was third place on 28Pts. Category 2 winner is Tommy Walton with 33 Pts. Tommy Coyne is second on 24 Pts. and Brian O Neill third on 20 Pts. In category 3 Frank Culleton was the winner with 48 Pts. Seamus O Brien was second with 30 Pts and third spot went to Paul Muldoon on 28 Pts. The final round was run in conjuction with the May Medal. Medal Winners were Eddie Walsh (13) net 66, Seamus O Brien(18) 62 and Paul Muldoon(20) 63. Full league table and Medal result is on display in the clubhouse and on www.mviewgolf.com. The final round(Single Stoke) is on this weekend in conjunction with the May medal.

Players who qualified for the club Singles and Doubles matchplay competitions please take note of the first round completion dates. Doubles first round to be completed by May 31^st and the Singles by June 16^th.
