There was a large attendance at the AGM of Mountain View Golf Club on Friday night last. Outgoing Captain Seamus O’Brien opened the evening by paying tribute to his Vice Captain and the committee for enabling him to carry out the Captain duties at ease during the year. He wished incoming captain Jim Dunne good luck for the coming year. Seamus also thanked Bee O’Grady and the office staff for their support during the year with club competitions and in house club procedures. A huge tribute was paid by Seamus to greenkeeper Edward Power for providing a fantastic course for members to play. Edward was also complimented by the committee and members alike for the condition and maintenance of the greens throughout the year which were in great condition in spite of all the rain. Out going President Jimmy Maher thanked the club and committee members for what he described as a fantastic year. Jimmy complimented the O’Neill family for providing such a fabulous golf course in the present economic climate.
Course Director Bee O’Grady then addressed the meeting and outlined all the work that had been done throughout the year both on the course and within the club. She also informed the members present that in spite of all the wet weather in 2012 the numbers who played in competitions were only slightly down on the previous year. The new member/green fee loyalty card was a great success during 2012. She thanked Seamus O’Brien and Jimmy Maher for their leadership throughout the year and special word of thanks to Jim Dunne the outgoing Handicap Secretary.
Seniors Captain Liam Maddock was thanked for his excellent reign. She also thanked Edward Power and the office staff for their dedication throughout the year. Bee proposed that the position of captain be for a two year term instead of the traditional one year. This was put to the floor during the meeting and was carried unanimously.
Green keeper Edward Power told the meeting that he hoped the construction of three of the new tee boxes should be completed by the end of March.. He also informed the meeting of other course improvements he intends carrying out including repairs to the bridge at the 5th tee box.

Incoming Captain is, Jim Dunne, Secretary is Bee O’Grady, Handicap Secretary is John Byrne. President is Leonard O Shea, Seniors Captain is John Coleman, Competition Secretary is Willie Grace, Treasurer is Michael O’Neill, Committee members are John Coleman, Jim Maher, Michael Dobbyn, Seamus O’Brien, Edward Power, Keith Kavanagh and Kevin Kelly.
At the end of the meeting there was a minutes silence club members and family of members whom passed away during 2012.
Captains Drive In
Captains Anne Foskin and Jim Dunne will drive into office next Sunday. Members can register up to 16.00 on this Friday at the Clubhouse or on 056-7768122. There are some spaces left so register now and don’t be disappointed. The draw for teams will take place on Saturday. All participants are asked to be at the clubhouse by 9.00am. The competition will be a 3 Person scramble with a shotgun start at 9.30. Members taking part are reminded that all subs must be fully paid.
